Voted unanimously 7 to 0 at the August 16 city council meeting, Jim Riviere’s title was changed in a very positive manner from Interim City Manager to Marco Island City Manager.

The vision of City Manager, states the City of Marco Island’s web page, is “To be responsible to City Council for the administration of all City affairs by providing sound policy recommendations, leadership and management of all departmental activities, and to strive for excellence in the provision of City services at a reasonable cost with an organization committed to good customer service for the citizens we serve.”

Obviously, the seven City Council members felt that Riviere met the vision set forth and articulated within the city’s goals and guidelines. Previously, in May, Riviere unequivocally stated that he did not desire the permanent position of City Manager. With a successful professional background, Riviere’s touch and changes these last several months have brought accolades from many quarters. Riviere’s change of heart was noted when he said, “Next to City Councilor, this is the premier job on Marco Island, and I love it.”

The Staff at Coastal Breeze News wishes Jim Riviere all the very best.
